    Homemade Deep Throat C Clamps

    Hello,

Anyone here made their own deep throat C clamp? I have a bunch of 4" HF C clamps and was thinking of converting some into deep c clamps similar to this.

Just wondering what kind of materials would be best on extending the C clamp.

    Thanks,

I just pick up the HF deep throats when they are on sale at the store, usually about $6-7.00, as i recall. the problem in trying to extend what you have is they are cast, so welding anything to take the strain is going to take a lot of skill, and mating material to that Chinese cast might be impossible.

Didn't know HF have them. I was checking out their website last night for this and didn't find one. At that price I'll just buy one. Will wait for the sale.

    Thanks Hotfoot,

I've made clamps with cold rolled rectangular steel (CRS) before and they work OK...

Good idea Rocky and I'm sure it would look better than a frankensteined C clamp.

    Thanks,

That looks real good Rocky. I'll try making one and see if my weld holds. Thanks for the picture.

What kind of clamp is that? Do you have a full pic of it....? I needed a deep throat clamp last weekend and I was using 2x4's and rope to do what I needed..... I needed a beer after that jerry rigging.
