    gas problem hopefully fixed

i blew air back thru my hh187 and now the gas is shutting off and everything seems to be working fine. i just worry that this could happen again. if there is trash getting in the valve of the welder how is it getting in there so easy? it seems to be a problem that many has had with this welder from what i've read.

I have a habit to clear the throat of the tank valve before hooking up the regulator...saves a lot of grief.

I do remember one time we re-fitted and re-hosed our entire argon system, including torch cables...we started to get defects right away and it took us quite awhile to finally discover that the 1/4" plastic tubing had some sort of contaminates in them that was messing up out welds....the tubing was being used for torch cables, and purge lines. Really weird.

Hopefully, you removed the gas line from the rear of the unit before performing this operation.

More then likely the small piece of debris that was holding the valve open came from the gas supply hose. I'd probably remove the hose from the regulator and the unit, and blow it out to make sure there are no other small suprises hiding in the hose.
