It's really a nice machine. You'll apreciate how smooth the arc is.

yep couldn't stand it, so i fired up the Hobart Champ 10K and plugged the HH210 into it, grabbed a piece of rusty angle iron that was wet. and said this should be a good test. i know the farm hand would not strike an arc on that. but the HH 210 sure did and run a pretty bead, made three passes, shut it down, and started looking around for enough angle iron to make a wood rack, for the carport to keep the firewood dry. still raining, so maybe tomorrow. after running it on wet and rusty steel i am sure it will do anything i need it to do, with what i have plans for.
seems to run real smooth. went to Lowes to get an end to make plugging into the 10K a lot easier, and 50' of 8/3 w/gnd wire to make an extension so i am not locked to the truck. that copper wire is kinda steep....but it will do well.

    OK thanks for the reply.

Just wait. Once you get used to it, you'll really like it then. I have been running my MM210 for the last week and switched over to the HH this week....SWEET!!! I can really appreciate it after a week off of it.

Did you get the spool gun? The alu action is the best part of that unit, IMO.

No i didn't YET, key word, i plan too get it. but haven't yet. plan on running it with soldi wire and C25 for steel, and pure argon with aluminum. it is 10:46 pm and i want to go outside and weld. But it is still wet out there and now dark. so it will wait until tomorrow, is it time yet ? dern that clock runs slow.

    Mike,

I hope you can use that 8/3 for something it really needs to be used for, but 10/3 would have been good to around 160' for that machine.

    Wish you would have asked!

Hank i got some 10/3 and still have yet to put the extension together, will do that today. so yep i can use 10/3, will be easier to do than the 8/3.

I picked up a almost new 50 amp ..25 ft cord from a deceased member of the BB here...just prior to his passing. He told me it looked new ( Id have bet it WAS new) and that he had switched to a "home made" 50 footer made with 10 ga instead ( less "hassel to wrestle" sort of thing.) I got it for less $$ than the ends of a homemade extension would have cost me..so I didnt hesitate to buy it.

I think your going to enjoy that HH210!!

Sully ! ! ! i understand, and that is great.... i kinda lucked out almost the same way. at the other house i used to live at the next door neighbor was a retired electrician, he gave me 50' of 10/3 he had laying around. so all i had to do was buy 220/50 amp ends. and now i am set. but the end that plugs into the champ is a lot bigger than what is plugged a house 220, because that is capable of a lot more current, or it is the way Hobart wanted it made. so i bought a end that matched the Hobart at Lowes for 13.00 USD
so now i have a 50' extension that will handle 50 amps, on a generator that will put out 48 amps max, 40 amps continious @ 220 Volts. i took the watts and divided by the volts. but even if that is not correct, it runs the HH 210 just fine, should run my little lincoln 225 buzzbox. and depending on what size and type of TIG i buy i can run it off the Champ 10K as well... so my Mobile welding business i am wanting to start is getting closer to starting.

    Crenshawjm,

I wouldn't recommend using 10/3 cord for a "true" 50A load. That cord will work fine for powering the HH210 but if you really need to pull 50A, I would recommend a 6/3 cord.

Smaller cords are used on welders due to the duty cycle the machines offer.

Maybe one of our electricians on the board would care to comment.

And thats what "Sundown" was using ( a 50 footer) on HIS machine...hence the reason he didnt need his larger gauge 25 foot cord he sold me

thanks for the electrical wire input, well i thought hey i bought this 8/3 with ground, and it is already cut, can't take it back. So i used it for the extension cord i made. still got the 10/3 so i can use it for something else. it won't hurt to run the HH210 off it, nor the Buzzbox welder. so all is good.
went to TSC to look into ordering a DP3035 Spool Gun for the HH 210, Wow they think a lot of it. i will get one after Christmas. that might give me time to find one a little cheaper as well. they quoted 430.00
i guess that is not bad, but it is kinda high in my mind since i just bought the welder and looking on getting a TIG. not to mention the bottles are Gas will get my attention as well....
Oh well it is just money ! ! ! ! Right....
