    Sheet Metal with a HH187 ?

Can't recall any posts about using the HH187 on sheet metal and how it performs, settings accuracy to the chart, different brand wires, etc. Like an idiot, I went and sold my HH120 (115v) when I bought the HH187, but I may regret it. I've been doing a lot of frame work with the HH187, but will, in the near future, be installing some patch panels in the cab of my '46 Chevy 1/2T project. I don't have any .024" wire on hand to try it out, but I want to plan a little bit ahead.

Anybody want to report on how the HH187 performs on sheet metal?

Dan recently posted on this, mentioning how he could even get beads that were several inches long on 22 ga. sheet metal, I think.

I'll see if I can find his post...

My HH210 has the same low end and has welded 24-ga, though with quite a bit of technique.

You can crank a big machine down but you can't crank the little guys up very far. You should be fine.

Bob don't worry the HH 187 has a very good low end for sheetmetal, with an .023 solid wire and C-25. Unless your fit up is poor, I doubt you'll need the real low end for patch panels on a 1946 vintage vehicle.

I ve ran .023 HB-28 and L-56 on the unit a both worked fine.
MigMaster 250- Smooth arc with a good touch of softness to it. Good weld puddle wetout. Light spatter producer.
Ironman 230 - Soft arc with a touch of agressiveness to it. Very good weld puddle wet out. Light spatter producer.

My Challenger 172 can weld thin sheetmetal on the #1 setting. You need to do spot welds and jump around so the metal doesn't warp as much.
