the reason I hate surfing ebay, :)

I can pretty much sum this up in a few words...
the items I cant get besause I'm not within pickup distance

every once in a while there are tanks up for cheap but they are pickup only or would cost just as much to ship as buy new, I can't seem to find ANY local tanks on the cheap, though some have been found for ~100$$ I just cant find the $20 deals locally...

oh well maybe someone can use this.

Yep. I know how that is. If I lived in the Northeast or in Cali, there's deals all the time. A buddy of mine picked up a 1989 Chevy pickup for $250 a couple of years ago, but he had to go to Texas to get it. For him it was no big deal. He was already planning a trip to visit a relative, so he just made sure to have a way to get his car back home. Lucky b*stard!

    YES!!!

I live like 2 minutes from Royal Oak, you just made my day!!!!

Hey, if I find more local pick-up stuff that looks useful to us arc-heads I'll post a heads-up just the same!

    Keep it up!!!

Edit: Hmm, I wonder if there is a search function on Ebay to search for ALL auctions for your zip code or within x miles of it..... (especially local-pick-up only auctions)
I have used that on the ebay motors when oggling cars on auction...

Sooo, $58.00, was it anyone from here?

Anyways, I was looking on Craigslist and came across a posting for "oxy tanks" so I called the guy and he quoted "one is 4' tall the other is 4.5' tall, takem both for $50 bucks". went to see them on Sat morn, one is a 57"x 9" ??330cuft?? Oxy the other is a 40" 145cuft acety, both not empty so I also picked up a 2' magnetic level and a bit of scrap steel, including a slab 16" x 20" x 3/4" all for $55 CAD, no Idea what I'll use the slab for yet but the brain is workin on it.

Now I don't feel so left out.

NO, it was looking like it was going too high so I bowed out of that auction.

Darn! you got a heck of a deal on the scrap alone!!!

Let me know if you come across more like that (assuming you don't need the stuff).

You could make a nice table top for a small welding table, or a real solid stand out of that slab....
