I will hazzard a guess, he was having a gas coverage problem and it took him a year to find the source?

what exactly does he mean by 4 and 6 holes? holes in the screen of the lens?

napier: If you look down inside the end opposite the screen, you will see holes for the gas to flow through.
Sundown: That is true, and the source of the problem is poorly designed gas lens', and I hope to alert others to the possibility that even brand new parts that at first look identical to ones that work may, in fact, be inferior in design. If you are having gas coverage issues, it is easy to check the number of holes, now that you know what to look for.

We totally recommend gas lenses-- when they are of good quality.... there is a difference between manufacturers, price should not be the only consideration because not all parts are created equally!
