Feeding mig wire from new spool.

This is how I am feeding wire from new spool and wonder if there is a better way. I follow manual instructions, but when the wire is fed most of the way down the gun conduit cable it stops when it comes close to the gun nozzle (same way with both of my Hobarts).
I have to open pressure assembly to back out the wire some what, close and crank up on pressure assembly almost all the way down and run it again. It usually takes few tries before the wire finally emerges from the nozzle.

I always pull the contact tip from the gun before feeding new wire then slide the tip back over the wire once it has emerged from the gun. This seems to help avoid jamming the wire. Also, hold the cable to the gun as straight as possible when feeding new wire.

I forgot to mention that this happens with the tip of the gun. I guess there is some sharp shoulder before the nozzle that the wire catches on.

Gotta do that every time and you'll never have a problem. Before you start threading the new wire, blow through the conduit with an air hose - this gets rid of lots of garbage that will cause problems sooner or later.

    Cool

Sounds like you liner is a smidge too short and the wire is getting hung up between it and the nozzle, if it isn't stuck at the edge of the tip as already mentioned...Bob
