    Why are Mig carts tilted?

I feel like an idiot for asking, but can't help notice all the carts for smaller mig welders have the tray tilted and thus the welder sitting on it tilted. Why is that?

Maybe the cart IS straight and the rest of the world is on an angle. Hmm, that explains some things.

Maybe they were never meant to be tilted. I can think of two scenarios....

    First ...
The first guy to make his own didn't take into account the effects of welding heat on steel and the heat caused the shelf to distort in an upward angle.
Second guy sees it and says , gee if it was slanted a little more it would be easier to see and operate.

Or maybe the first one was made by a weekend hobby welder, and like all others he had some cold beer on hand and well, after about 8 cans of beer it was time to weld on that shelf for the welder.

From then on whenever a cart was made for a small MIG, it had a tilted shelf for the MIG unit.

So the gun cable has a big loop in it. You sell more gun liners that way.

    MAYBE...
they think it looks more fancy, and they have no idea why they make it tilted, but people wonder about it, and it helps with sales. I just looks more professional than just a flat surface...
    MAYBE...
They should start doing that to O/A carts so that the cylinder tops have "easier access".
minor problem...acetone getting all messed up, falling cylinders....
    MAYBE...
the factory (if it is) that makes them had too much money so they thought they should get some of those jacks...because...well i dunno why.... they are neat and i can't ever figure out how they work, and someone wanted to dismantle one....and in the process they treid testing it on one of the machines.....and they left it there because of a lunch break....
    MAYBE....
    ah, well, nevermind

My bottles are tilted back. But it was to help with the balance of the cart. It puts the CG closer to the middle of the cart, instead of being way out front.

There are two types of carts, and you'll probably need both:

One is for working on the side of a hill, the other is for level ground.

However, I'm not sure if the tilted, or the level one is for use on flat surfaces, or vice versa.

I was told it's so when hot metal falls on the top it will roll off and if you leave it out in the rain most of it will run off. I';m sure it's like someone done said..Looks and convenience. Maybe a Hobart man will answer this one so we will have the real reason.

It's to lower the center of gravity while allowing easy adjustments on the machine.
