    Making Christmas gifts

I got to use my new bender on this. Still learning the basics.

The round bar is 1/8" 7014 welding rods with flux cleaned off. Excellent stock if making small pieces. The bender had me stumped so I made out of 4 individual pieces welded together (like a cross)in the middle instead of 2 pieces. The coasters are 4" slate tiles with cork gasket glued to the bottom with Elmers Ultimate glue. I bought a box of 9 tiles so I plan to make another set for myself. Hopefully nicer with what I have learned. I think I will clear coat, because I like the color and would be more unique than all the wrought iron stuff for sale.

    Cool looking coaster holder.
A realitycheck is a time in your life where you do a check of your heart. A time you check where your relationship with God is and where it’s going. Then you make a decision as to where your going from here.

    Thumbs up

thats a great idea.quick and simple yet usefull.
a little small to mess with a bender in i would think, i would probly just bend them up by hand also. maybee make a jig and use a lil O/A heat to simplify and speed up the process.
    thanks for the help

Actually, the little bender from PrincessAuto would probably work pretty good for that. I might have to make a mental note of this project.

Couple of questions about this thread..

First by little bender, I am assuming they are talking about the brake line bender?

Second, PetersenJ, where did you find the coasters, or did you cut them yourself? If you cut them, what did you use?

If you download the "shop" section of Princess's catalogues it is item #8000447 on page 15. Yellow and it comes in a case. Regular for $79.99 but was on sale for $49.99 and you can get a DVD that shows you how to use it.

I just bought 4" slate tiles from Home Depot and glued cork gasket material on the bottom. They have awesome natural colors.
