3/8 steel welded with Maxstar 150?

I have a small job for a friend to do that I'm wondering if I can use mt Maxstar 150 on. Il have 240 service to plug into. I'm thinking using 1/8" 6011 rod with prolly 3 passes. I feel comfortable welding this but not too shure about using this machine. I can also use My MM210 with .030 fluxcore wire to get the job done. It's not structural but I dont want it to come apart either. Il be welding a I beam to a 10 inch piece of steel. The steel will be welded to the top of the I beam and will hold bricks about 2 foot high. What are your thoughts on my next adventure?

    Thanks,
    Ivan

    Ivan,

Assuming that the welds are adequately sized, the Maxstar will do a great job for you. So will the MM210. Both will require multiple passes, so use the machine that you are most comfortable with. My preference would be the Maxstar... If you start by sanding to bright steel 6013 or 7014 will look a lot nicer than 6011. Again, whatever you are most comfortable with...

    Have Fun!
