For those with tig inverters like the TA185TSW and D200DX, what tungsten are you using for aluminum?

2% Lanthanated for AC/DC & all metals. Also keeps the invernory down and you don't have to remember what the small peices in the box are.

I was wrong Grey is unspecified rare earth alloys. When I asked for ceriated or lanthanated this is what I sold. Any way they seem to work ok.

Dontcha just love the "unspecified" rare earth alloy! We carry something similar, cream colored, as ArcTime, you'll also see it sold as Tri-Mix and Multi-Strike.... we like it because like the lanthanated, it is versatile, good for all metals and all machines.

I did like the Tri-Mix but found that it requires about 10-15% more amps than the Lanthanated but in its favor it did light up great at very low amps.

I have always used Zirtung for aluminum. Is this old school? Or is this lanthanated tungsten the same as zirtung?

Definitely not the same. Zirconiated tungsten has zirconia alloy blended in with the tungsten and lanthanated has lanthanum oxide blended in. I know a lot of folks prefer the brown labeled tungsten for aluminum... it is a little "old school" though but I always recommend if it works for you and works with the equipment you have.... don't "fix it"
