Hey hey.
Well I just got back from a little place called Whakatane. I went over yesterday morning to see a man about a job.
This Job:

I went to a place called Allied Industrial Engineering or AIE for short.
http://www.aie.co.nz/default.asp
Where I might be working for a month on the Fabrication team for the annual shut down of the a Pulp and Paper mill in a even smaller place called Kawerau ( 30 Km out of Whakatane).
A friend of mine is the fabrication team leader at AIE. He asked me to come over and he'd show me round. Anyway as I expected he asked me to run a few test welds for him. I said sure. He grabs some 5/8" plate scraps and tells me to run a fillet on a T-joint. So I ran a 3 pass fillet spraying with 0.045" (1.2mm) wire. Which he said was beautiful. Then he takes me to the next work station where he grabs more 5/8". Switches on this awesome little Miller XMT 350 ( http://www.millerwelds.com/products/...ocess/xmt_350/ ) with a Miller 24A Wire feeder. He asked me to run another fillet using 1.2mm (0.045") Dual Shield Flux Cored, after which he said I was a gun. I was pretty pleased with how it went.
I hope I get the opportunity to work for them. Not only will I gain valuable experience but I'll get to use sweet machines!![]()
I'll find out within a week or two if the need me or not.
Now after travelling I'm stuffed.
Later guys
Andrew
