New power cord for my HH140

I wnet to Lowe's and saw a 25' 14/3 Yellow JAcket extension cord for $16.99 and grabbed one. I got home to install it on my HH140, and after I had cut the female end off, I discoevred that I had accidentally picked up a 12/3 instead. Those morons have their stock all mixed up, but it's my fault for not noticing the package and not paying attention when I checked out. At any rate, I really like this cord; flexible and well made. Hobart recommends no more than 59' of 14/3, so I am well ahead of the game with 25' of 12/3.

Heres something I did with mine that may intrest ya.

I hated having to have 2 ea.50-100' cords to run the Handler, and also a grinder or whatever. While I was wireing the big cord into the machine, I installed a single 30 amp outlet into the back of the machine, and wired it to the lugs that the power cord goes to. Now whenever the main cord is hot, so is the outlet. Now I can run a lightweight 15-25' cord off the back of the Handler for the power tools.
"I cut it twice,,,and it's still too short"!

That's a good idea, but I don't use the 140 that often, and I have a 100' 14/3 cord at the front of the garage for grinders and saws. I didn't want to run the 140 on a 100' cord, and all other 110 outlets are inconvenient.

That's a great idea, NOS! Heck, I'm trying to think of an excuse right now to do that very thing, maybe install a GFCI the same way...

I usually have sufficient power outlets as it is, but that's just too neat NOT to copy...

That is a cool idea. I'm with Mac in trying to figure a way to use it. Maybe a gfi protected junction box on the back?
