    help with millermatic 250x

Hi I am new to this forum and looking for help on the wire drive motor for a 250x, I am looking for just the shaft that drives the rollers, it has a plastic gear that is driven by the motor and on the other end is a key. the problem is the previuos owner adjusted the rollers in to far and striped the screw, I tried to drill it out and a drill bit broke inside, and now the hole is to big and cant be retapped. I tried a couple local miller dealers and the only sell the whole motor, does anyone happen to know where I can buy a used or burned up motor?
    Thanks
    Justin

    Justin,

    Welcome aboard.

Even though a lot of us hang out on both boards, you would be wise to post this on the Miller bulletin board, too. Here's the link.

I think I saw this question on the Miller site also.
In case you didn't see my suggestion there, I'll offer it again.
If the hole isn't damaged too badly, you can drill it out and install a "Heli-Coil" in the hole and it will be good as new. Or, you can fill the hole with JB Weld, let it cure properly and re-drill and tap the hole. When properly cured, JB Weld, or even "Dev-Con" is almost as strong as steel.
It's worth a try and it has worked for me many times. Good luck.

You might bring that part into a miller repair center and see what they say. I know Milwaukee tools centers will sell you individual gears as needed for a reasonable price.

That gear and shaft does not come separate, you'll have to purchase a new drive assembly, I've noticed that Miller, ESAB, Lincoln, & Panasonic all purchase this type of drive motor from the same manfacturer.
