    Question Which Nozzle???

I noticed that on Miller's website there are 3 types of nozzles for the M-25 gun.

1 - the nozzle is flush with the tip, 2 - the nozzle extends past the tip and 3 - the tip extends past the nozzle.

Why are there different types, when would you use them and why? None of my welding books explains why!

    Which should I buy?

Thanks ahead of time for your input!

Tip flush is for short arc. Tip recessed is for spray ( to protect the tip). I guress the extended tip is for tight corners or FCAW. I just use the tip flush model and extend it for spray.

    Smile Nozzle

I have used both very successfully. The flush tip will require you to hold the torch a specified distance from the weld, otherwise you will end up shorting out the tip. This is fine for short beads. On jobs that I have had to run longer beads, I've used the shorter tip and modified the distance so that I could actually rest the cone on the work and use it for a guide. That way I was assured a constant distance from the weld. Especially, after 4 or 5 hours of welding. I hope this helps.

    cup and tip mig distances

Howdy Howdy! I too have realized this with my tweco gun recently. all this time I have been using the wrong gas cup! I asked about them at the shop the other day, and for short arc the lead tech man(I am sure the guy is very very knowledgeable and competent) suggested tip even with cup, to roughly 1/16th cup past tip. My tip is sitting more then 1/4" recessed inside my cup. He didn't have the correct piece at his shop I needed, so he said it would work just fine for my neads ( especially since my cup is out of round and beet up) to cut the difference off so it'll be flush with the tip. This is for a 120 volt 90-130 amp century welder. Tweco gun. actually a nice lil welder. I have had great success with it. The problem I was having, is that the wire coming out is curved, so it melts in different spots for the puddle, so it's hard to keep the puddle even and symetrical. Now, it'll melt before it has a chance to bend to the side, and hopefully be more predictable. Good luck in your own welding adventures! Brian Lee Sparkeee24
