    Coffee Table

This is a coffee table I made over a year ago, it was my first welding project. I believe the wood was walnut laminate. The the table top and shelf are surrounded with steel angle (welded then ground shiney). The legs are capped in aluminum channel. It's hard to tell but the top and shelf have beveled edges.

What did I learn? Don't use water based clear coat on freshly ground metal. It will eventually oxidize which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place. An easy fix.

If you want shinny steel use stainless steel not mild steel.

Good point but I don't think that $tainless angle is readily available in my town. Plus switching to SS wire would have been a ***** and even then I'd mostly end up with blue stained stainless. I could then acid bath it. Not worth it.

I used mild steel then ground every square inch of it to get that shiny kinda "brushed" look and then sealed it with the wrong type of clear coat.
