I'm right handed and hold the torch in my right hand and feed filler with left (GTAW). I can use either hand but prefer torch in my right hand. Scott
I second that statment. ( for O/A anyway ) O/A welding is so slow.......I have a wire & spring hanging from my rafter beam hooked to the O/A hose behind the torch to help hold it up in the air to take the weight off the torch. Makes a world of difference.Originally Posted by tigman

I am right handed and use my right hand, though with little trouble I can use either if I must. Usually I try to adjust the work peice so I can use my right hand though.

With my little experience with TIG(only 3 days now), I hold the torch with my left hand, and I am left handed. I feed the filler with my right but have switched once or twice, and do okay. Also, like Max said, try to position your work so it makes it easy for you. I always position the joint slanted towards the right(front of joint would be left of the end of the joint), and weld back towards me. This seems to give me maximum vision of the weld puddle. Good Luck!

I can tig with either left or right hand, I owe this to very large projects with very tight spaces and no positioner. When mig welding I find myself using either hand as well.

I am right handed and use my left hand to hold my torch and right hand to hold the filler. I can switch but it is hard for me to feed filler with my left hand. MIG I can use either hand.
