    Migs for Engine driven

I know this is most likely not the way to do this, but could I plug a regular shop mig welder into my Lincoln 250? Would it run from a regular outlet on the ranger? I'm not a mig welder at all, but a friend of mine was wondering if it was possible, now I know they make migs for the new engine drive's.

    Thanks!

    Will,
Definite maybe. I see lots of guys running around with small MIG welders and engine drive welders. It really depends on the size of the MIG welder. In theory, I should be able to run my 250 amp mig welder off of my 8000 watt welder. In reality, I'm not even going to try.

How big of a MIG welder are you thinking of using?

You would certainly be able to get things to stick togather, just a question of how well! I know a lot of people who run 110 mig's off smaller generators at races with some success. Beats towing the car home!

I've run a HH135 off my Bobcat with ease - could easily run a 180, probably a 210. Just make sure you set the welder/generator up as a generator. You don't want it dropping to idle.
