    compressor size

Looking at IR 5hp 11.8peak with 18.1cfm and 80 gal tank. Usage would be painting, grinding, sanding, and maybe light blasting. This is a single stage but I don't think I need two stage seeing that it won't be used for long periods at a time. Thanks for any imput.

Provided you truly plan to use it for short periods, just add a good water trapping system and call it good (sweet compressor btw). If you can spare it, however, a 2 stage will run quieter, cooler, and save you some on the electricity bill.

That a new or used unit? If it's a good price, I wouldn't even blink at getting it.

Yes I think I may get the IR in two stage with same hp. I also was looking for advice on the wiring. I have a little ways to go-upabout 5 feet out of service, 30 feet across ceiling and down another 5 feet. Not sure if I need 50 or 30 amp breaker and would 10-3 wire be ok? Thanks for any help.

The manual for the compressor will give the correct size breaker to put it on. 10-3 should likely be allright, since the motor isn't likely to be a huge draw. I think mine takes like ~12A running. Just post the specs here and someone will surely be able to tell you if the manual doesn't.

Kudos on the compressor though, that thing will be a dream.

PAT M. thanks for your input. I ended up with the IR two stage. Now to get it hooked up. I'm shure I'll be happy with it.
