I recently acquired a Hobart cyber-wave, model CW-300-S, 6499-1. When I flip the switch on, the contactor closes and the fan comes on but nothing else. There is no voltage on the front panel voltmeter and of course, I can't get any current in stick or tig mode.
I found an owners manual but no other documentation. I have checked all the voltages at the test points I have found that are identified but I don't know what kind of signals there should be at the other test points. It might help to know what the leds on the boards should show. When I opened it up I found that it was packed with industrial sized dust bunnies so it probably ran hot during its final hours.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I have a nice boat anchor.
On your CW300S, is there anyhting plugged into the remote receptacle on the front of the machine? If not, put a jumper into the remote across pins A & B then turn the unit on and try again.
I never would have figured that one out. It does not say anything about that in the manual. I first hooked up the foot pedal and still nothing, disgusted, I pushed the pedal and darned if the voltage meter didn't swing up. I pulled the foot pedal of and jumped A and B like you said and I was able to strike an arc. Now I just have to put it all back together and see if everything still works.
Again, thank you for your prompt reply and priceless advice.
