    Need Help with tig

    Hello all
    I have been lurking here for a while... This is by far the best place to learn from on the web... My question is i really want to learn to tig weld and wonder what machine would be a good starter for a newbie???

    Welcome, need more information. What do expect to weld? how much money do you want to spend? Do you want to be able to do aluminum? How much voltage/amperage for input do you have available? Do you want to be portable? Stuff like that.

    But how thick? That and your budget will quicly become the deciding factors.

    Which ever one your local community college use's in their vocational welding courses

    there's a dialarc 250 for sale on ebay right now that came from a local college that, once again, cut out a welding program Its pretty cheap and can be cheap to set up. shipping is a factor though

    yeah me too. Around here there are only a couple of basic programs you can attend and only one place has an advanced class(according to the AWS). Which I find pretty scary considering this is the DC area.
