What kinds of jobs are done using a "H" or an "A" style shop press like those shown at HF and other companies? Is there a reason for both styles?
Don't play safe, work at it.
I think the A style would have less chance of bending in the middle of the top beam then a H style.
Every industrial hyraulic press I've ever used has been a conventional H-frame design. The only place I've ever seen the "A-Frame" style is at Harbor Freight, leading me to believe the only reason for its existence is to reduce the amount of steel used in its construction.
