Your welders a lot differnt than mine. My outlets are on the front panel and the engine is a v twin and a couple other little things. Does it work good with the smaller engine? How does the welder weld? I cant wait to get it running. Its gonna need a valve job as the dont seal. I dont know about the intake valve but the exhaust valves dont seal. Maybe i just need to clean them out real good so the seat better. The cylendar walls are pretty clean so i was happy about that. Thanks for all your help. I'll be sure to tell everyone when i get it running. My cameras not working so i cant get any pics.

That's because your machine wasn't made with stone knives and bear skins!!!

That's OK Don. It's a 1960 model so it is long in the tooth like its owner. Actually the K301 Kohler is 10 HP like the original Onan. Just has one lung instead of two.

The AEA-200-L is a 240 Amp (max) AC welder and 5,000 watt aux gen. What I like is this is produced at 1,950 RPM. The weld bead is so smooth I can't believe it's not DC.

Before I get flamed I would like to say that I like Onan's but they are too expensive to rebuild. Also, I have had very good performance from Kohlers over the years and have accumulated enough blocks and parts to serve my needs for the long term. I can overhaul four Kohlers for the same $$ as one Onan. The secret is proprietary vs inexpensive Stens parts...

I should mention that I repowered my Bobcat with a 25HP V-twin Kohler, replacing a 20 HP Onan that threw a rod. I have five Onans on the shelf all with thrown rods. Someone will eventually need some parts.

Hey Moe i might need some exhaust valves. What models are your onans? The exhaust valves are burnt a bit and theyre not sealing and i cant find Onan parts online. I only looked for a bit but didnt turn anything up. I need an exhaust too. I could use a 20hp Kohler. Any of them laying around . Ive got the the motor apart and once the valves are in and the clyendar walls cleaned up a bit it should be good to go.

    Chris,

You said you have a V-twin. Did you mean horizontal opposed? Is it a P220?? How bad are the exhaust valves? I have dressed up some bad looking valves. I would recommend going with new valves if yours can't be ground to specs. If you do change the guides also.

Let me know what model and spec engine you have...

The valves arent too bad. I got em out today. It lookes like she should run. Ive been out there tearin it apart almost every night this week. I just need to dress the valves and the valve seats then get some new guides and i should be good to go with the valves. Ive got the carb in carb choke cleaner and it looks pretty good. On the Onans whereis the feed for the coil? There is a wire coming out from the positive going to the switch and a wire coming from the negative going to a box or something on the top of the engine. I cant figure out where the power comes from

    Chris,

Would you post the info on the data plate? I have early to late Onans. Also, if you are going to use the original valves, unless there is excessive wear the guides won't need to be replaced.

I have Onan manuals also if you need some info.

I cant get all the numbers off of the plate as something scaped up against or something and like 3 or 4 numbers are gone. I'll see what i can get and I'll post em to see if we can figure something out.

I got some of the numbers. The serial number on the welder is JF947192. The serial number on the engine is I85393*****. The model number is B48INGAO1***07A. I'm not sure about the N because my handwritings pretty bad. Made a valve tool today to pull the valves.
