The start of a cart ( or stool )

    Here it is Monkey-1,

I wanted to build a gocart for my kid. So instead I thought I would learn a little about the set up by building myself a motorized bar stool first. I went with some cheeper lawnmower wheels and tire so my stool will be a off-road version. so far here is what I have to work with. Thanks to BMI's slow shipping I havent gotten my axil yet so I mocked it up with a dowle rod just to get measurements. Should finnally get to work on the frame next week when I have spare time. Sure is looking like a fun project.

The date is wrong on my camera, its in default mode. All pictures have 1/1/97 as a date. I took these today 2/2/05

Looks good, keep posting pics as you continue. I feel your pain with BMI. On the last 2 orders, they have screwed up. The first one they shipped me a wrong part and the other one It took me a week and half to get. They are the best place to get almost everything, but their customer service sucks. Just hang in there and keep posting the pics!

    cart parts

Check out the ones Monkey1 gave you. I used BMI they have lots of stuff but they only want you to order online so if your not exactly sure which parts you need its a pain. Now that I see what I got from BMI I would suggest for a beginner cart go to a northern tools and you can get most of the stuff you need. From BMI the front spindle come in two parts, the spindle and the bracket. No bolts or nuts or spacers. From Northern tools you get it all for about the same price. The bearings and hangers are better priced at northern also....BUT I do like the alluminum axil and the racing sproket I got from BMI...I will be getting a racing disc brake from a cart place also..Hope this helps you some.

The link below will take you to my photo board which has pictures of my cart frame that I built and air brushed along with all my other projects. I had a great time building the kart, I now have two of them so my son and I can race each other. 10 horse motor will burn rubber and power slide on black top!!! great fun to build and ride. Good luck with yours.

    gocart

i built a gocart a few years ago it turned out to be a good cart.i used an old golf cart rear axle and fron suspension.i welded a tube frame together put a 8 horsepower engine on it.the kids loved it and so did i.the golf cart rears have brakes already in them so it went together quickly.i found the old golf cart in the newpaper for $50.00.check your local golf course they might have an old unit that you can buy from them.you only need the front and rear axles and the tires.you might use the seat and the steering wheel but otherwise the rest is junk.it would be a huge time saver..........
