While Lenox gets good reviews, I've had trouble with them stripping teeth. I'm running Morse bimetals now.

Just like hank suggested I buy all my bandsaw blades from a local saw shop in my hometown. I could prob get better price from some online sources but I like to support my local shops when I can...plus I use them for all my blade sharpening needs as well so its also a matter of convinence.

Lenox for my wood sawmill, but, if I get back into it heavily, I will do as Mike does, buy bulk...if I can ever learn to put them together.

Paco, I've been buying my bimetal bandsaw blades from our local tool dealer. I don't know what brand of blade stock he purchases but it must be top quality; one blade (usually 8-11 variable pitch) will last about a year - with once or twice weekly cutting of metal and wood. That's a great buy that you made!

Mike W, I have an old Walker-Turner variable speed bandsaw, perhaps 1960 vintage, with a blade welder mounted on its rear. During my more optimistic times I accumulated around 400' - 500' of blade stock of several widths and pitches - thinking that I would easily be able to weld up lots of plain steel blades (with hardened teeth). I've discovered that there's a lot of art (and maybe witchcraft ) to welding successfully with one of these old blade welders. I don't seem to possess the art - and definitely not the witchery! Mike W, what's the secret of your success?

You can order a good bi metal blade off the net. I ordered my last ones from ENCO.

paco, if you did it that way, it wouldn't go between the bearings. I grind the ends at 22 degrees to get as much overlap as possible. I hold them in a jig to keep the blade straight. It only takes a few seconds to silver solder one. I know of one guy that does it with tig. I have used an electric blade welder. The trick is to properly anneal it after welding.
