Hey guys,
I had my first welding class Monday.....AND I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!
It is almost all hands on. I learned how to set my oxy and acetylyne(sp?) tanks and how to get my torch adjusted.
I also used a plasma cutter.
I just can't believe how fascinating welding is, it's completly the most awesome thing to learn!!
We start welding things next week, and my teacher is even gonna hook me and a couple other guys up w/ jobs when were done! Well i just thought i'd share my joy--Later~~Andy

What school are you attending?

It's called Elkhart Area Career Center.
It's a very big place that offers a variety of career choices: Nurse's Aids, Electrician's, Auto mechanic's ETC*
Every class has a different price, i guess the nurses aid class is around $500, mine was about half that.
It's really cool there.

Extra nice thing about most formal training classes is that you get to experience a wide variety of good welding machines and methods. Usually have some expensive testing equipment also to be able to see if are really doing it right or not.

It's always great to hear when someone is excited about what they are doing. Keep us informed.

Remember to do up your collar when doing overhead. It's amazing how far bits of hot steel will go before cooling.

Hey ROCK!

Speaking as a student of arc welding with 7018, overhead is MUCH easier than vertical...
