What size of generator would I need to run this welder at it's full capcity? Let's say I am welding 1/4 steel at 125 A DC using a 6013 rod.
Thanks

At full output you would have to use at least a 12,000 watt generator. Welding 1/4 material still about 10,000 watts.

KEVIN W.............HI.........FORGET IT AND PLEASE DO NOT DO IT. PROBLEM NUMBER ONE IS A SAFETY CONCERN. NOT DESIGNED TO BE OPERATED OUTSIDE, REQUIRES CONSTANT STEADY NON SAGGING POWER LINE TYPICALLY 60 HERTZ IN A BUILDING NOT IDELING UP AND DOWN LIKE A GENERATOR, NOW FOR THE KICKER REQUIERES 70 AMP CIRCUIT BREAKER...........
SORRY MAN TO MANY NEGATIVES TO CONSIDER OUTSIDE OPERATION FROM A GENERATOR..........BE SAFE NOW..........ROCK

I do have a StickMate AC/Dc on my Demo Truck and I run it off the Champ 10,000. Now I have never run it to the Max but I have run 1/8 6013 electrodes at 130DC amps and never had a problem with breakers tripping or loss of weld output.
Thanks
