I bought a Hobart Stickmate LX and I want to know what kind of power extension cord to use. I read in the manual to use an 8 gauge cord with a maximum of 75 feet. Is this correct?

Also, can I extend my welding leads to 30 feet and what gauge wire should I use?

Thanks for the help.

If the manual says 75' of #8, that should be OK. I think @ 30' #2 welding lead would do fine.

Rob, If you need all that length (75+30) you would be better off with a 100 ft cord, #6 copper or #4 aluminum would be sufficient.
Better to extend the input side, and get the welder right where you need it. Ed
