This was sure a shock when I first logged on. but after a little while, even though it's a little clunky at first, it is easy to learn.
It certainly gives the user more power in relating information, with the ability to add images, and all.
I Like it!

New message board is great, would have been nice to have the previous post to search on, but understand not possible. I have learned so much from the forum about welding, and know that this upgrade will make it even easier to use. Keep up the good work.

Well so far so good.... I like the ability to attach files and such. I must have missed the post telling us that this change was happening.
I hope we don't lose people that participated in the old forum. I know there are people who won't sign up for anything on the internet. They worry about having their personal info falling into the wrong hands....the next feature to add is automatic spell check!

By the way...how do we upgrade froom "Junior" members????
Some of use have been participating here for a long time. Is it done automatically based on the the number of posts or by number of visits, or do the "experts" rate us and decide when we are ready for an upgrade???????????

It is done automatically. Over time, the active users will be identified accordingly - which is helpful for the new users to see. Following is a description of how it works:

Any user who has posted less than 30 messages is identified as a "Junior Member". Once a user has posted 30-100 messages, they are identified as a "Member" and over 100 as a "Senior Member".

Dear HE, (Hobart Expert) ,

After using this board for a few days, I can see that it is cutting edge design and the perfect medium for the exchange of ideas! I love it! My concern is your server space, what with all the photos being uploaded. I hope it won't present a problem for you and subsequently ...us. :(

This design also goes right along with your product line...superior cutting edge!!!

:D ;)

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are NOT concerned at this time about the images overloading our servers. The server is designed to handle a very large amount of data in a very efficient manner. It's great to see that you guys are starting to use the photo attachments and we hope to see you keep it up :)

Just want to say that this board reminds me of the car boards I am a member of. To me, it seems much easier for boards to use a similar format (it keeps computer illerate people like myself from getting confused!!!!!!!) :D I'm trying to get the avatar I use on the other boards up here and am having problems (guess I'll have to talk to one of my friends and get down on me knees...lol)!

DAN, JUST SETUP HIS ON THE PRODUCT LINK. IT IS BASICALLY A IMAGE THAT IS TIED TO YOUR USER NAME. It is displayed by your name on a posting. You set this up on your profile setting.

I just setup mine, used the image that dan had. Will have to change this to be more personal. But you change it by going to PROFILE/EDIT OPTIONS, then go to the bottom of the page and you will see the avatar option. I found it easy to upload image from your computer. Hope this helps.

Once again Gary, I owe you a debt of gratitude. Your explanations of the idiosynsracies of this site, i.e avatars, are so simple, that even i can understand it. I notive that the avatars are updated on every post I ever made!. Way too cool!

There seems to be a lot of questions about attachments and images. We are aware that the IMG button is not working properly at this time. We are making some adjustments and hope to have it corrected shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience!!

However, in the meantime, the "attachments" are working fine. Let me clarify a few things about attachments...

. max file size is 102,400 bytes or 10 Kb
. Valid extensions = gif, jpg, png, txt, zip, bmp, or jpeg
