If I want to be able to weld aluminum and TIG is the only way to go, then what is the most economical brand and model? Keep in mind I am the furthest thing from a professional. Just some hobby projects at home, but I do have 220 VAC service in the garage.

The Miller Syncrowave 180SD is the best bang for your buck. I am not sure, but I suspect 1/8" aluminum is probably the limit for this size machine...

Bill,
With a good preheat you should be able to weld 3/16" aluminum with your new toy (Syncrowave 180) that your going to be getting.
