View Full Version : Single pass MIG 304 SS w/C25

Using SS wire (yet to be purchased or selected) with 304 SS, with a single pass and C25, for cosmetic results only, will this still rust? I'm making rod-holders for my boat and this is the first SS I'll do and I don't know when I'll work with SS again anytime soon, so if the results will be adequate, I'd just assume use the C25.

The E-learning on this site says "must use tri-mix." I take them at their word.

Like to other guys said if you use 75/25 argon CO2 you won't have a stainless weld bead it will pick up carbon from the CO2.
To keep the carbon level down you need a 90% helium,7.5% argon and 2.5% CO2 mix.I believe some guys use 98% argon/2% oxygen also.
