Please explain spot welding with Tig?

I see this on the Syncrowave 250 if you have the optional board. How well does this work and how thick can you go? Is the electrode just pressed against the metal? Thanks. :confused:

All tig welding requires maintaining an arc. The spot feature you see on this machine as well as others is merely a timer function. You either need to maintain the arc manually or create a fixture to hold the torch.
