I cannot find anything...I can't even find a picture through google. I have a Forney CB71 that's been sitting for a long time because I don't need it...too ****ed big and I don't have a 220 outlet that will drive it. I'm wanting to sell it, but it's hard for me to handle that without knowing much about it. I don't even know how old it is.
I've been asking $500...it comes with 40ft leads, some replacement clamps, a few spare plugs, some electrodes, and it's in pretty good shape. I know it's copper-wound. How much is a pretty fair price for all that?

I posted this here, by the way, because I've been told that Hobart bought out the Forney line of welders...so you guys might be more knowledgeable that just a random "welding" forum.

While Forney is still in business, their welders, I believe, are all sourced from other manufacturers. Without a picture of your unit, I'm unsure as to what type of welder you even have. Suspect that it is probably a single phase 220v AC only unit as that was the majority of Forney's product line back when they were in production. The company became what it was/is by supplying farmers with an easy, basic welder to use on their new REA electric lines. Back in the days when they were new, the Forney line was a cheap alternative to Miller, Lincoln or Hobart.
If indeed your unit is one of Forney's old AC only machines, a $100-$150 would be more in line as a starting price. AC/DC and it could probably reach $200-$250. I'm not trying to grind you down on price as I'm not remotely interested in purchasing said welder. Just tossing some figures out there for you. Matter of fact, I'd quote the same price range for most old Lincoln, Hobart or Miller welders of that vintage. Best of luck on selling the machine.

Okay, I can work with that. I paid $350 for the welder about eight years ago...but I'm not above admitting that it likely wasn't worth anywhere near that much. The leads were another $250, and have only been used lightly (very heavy leads...I think it's 1g cable, but I would have to go back and check to be sure).
It is a single phase A/C welder. It does have DC leads that's labeled for "brazing" and the battery charging bank, but I don't know if that counts the same.
I can come off my price $150~200 and still be happy...I only really need to get enough out of it to cover the cost of my Harbor Freight welder (and the basically required 3 year full replacement warranty).

Fill your location out in your User Profile. You may get lucky and find a local buyer. I doubt that you'll find anyone that would pay to have that machine shipped due to the weight and expense.
