Schmaker Welder

Anybody heard of Schmaker welder brand?

Here is an ebay post for sale ... sorry only 4 hours left while I am writing this.

The add claims the machine can work like a 110V machine on 110V, but also do heavier work on 220V when needed. I think if I had seen this before I bought my Hobart, I would have jumped on it. Hobart, Miller, and others might be missing a market here. I think I even wrote one or two more common brand companies to see if they had such a thing.

Any comments.

Bob, I believe the welder you are referring to is a schumacher

Thank You. The ebay seller spelled it schmaker; I found another reference with schumaker, but it looks like the more German Schumacher is what I really wanted. The macher of schu's.

For those who give advice about "which welder should I buy": Check out the Schumacher site in the post above: dual voltage model:

Looks like it still only does 130 amps even on 220V input, but it sure does come with lots of stuff, including wheels and a cylinder rack. Maybe I am missing something ... duty cycle?

At this ebay price, it sure looks like a bargin for a beginner/hobby weldor. Also looks like a fit for "mostly small stuff" but an ability to do the seldom larger weld (by taking everything to the other end of the house where the 220V outlet is in the laundary)

Bob Hey Bob, If you feel that it will meet your needs, POWER to you, but,......I spent several months on this site before I bought my third welder {I have a Craftsman 220v ac/dc stick, a Craftsman 110v mig and now a HH 175} one thing I have learned from these guys is, buy a name you know, it is an investment, if that investment goes south in a year, who's gonna fix it? Spend a little more and have piece of mind.

Northern Tool and JC Whitney sold that brand welder in past. Local junkyard has old Schumacher MIG welder they are still using. They said it was ok whatever that ment.

HTP is only other company selling 220v/110v MIG welder that I know.

When I priced it seemed a bit over priced as could almost buy HH135 and HH175 for the price.
