I've been meaning to do this for the past 2 years, and while it is a pretty minor job, I finally did get it done. When I bought my Civic, it had no battery. It also had no hold-down for the battery, so when I got a battery, I just sat it in the tray and let gravity do the rest. I was changing the oil this weekend and thought to myself, "Ya ought to make that hold-down!" So I did. Maybe this will inspire somebody else to finish something that should have been done awhile ago! :)

Cool! I kept thinking about it every time I had to open the hood for something. Wouldn't want it to short against the hood in an accident and cause a danger for somebody else. Yeah, I TIG'd it. I have a bunch of drawings stacked on the welding bench right now and didn't want to move it.

I tend to use a tarp strap in lieu of a hold down. The rubber strap usually lasts as long as the battery. When the rubber strap rots, the battery is shot....

The point to me is that you figured out what you needed, designed it, made it, installed it, and it's working. That's as good, or better, job than most home-made battery hold-downs that I have seen. Pat yourself on the back for that one.
