Hey guys,
Here's a beautiful solid brass coffee table that was brought in for repair. The lady had it given to her & in transit, was damaged. A nephew said he could fix it & tried to stick weld it with brass rod & gave up with no success. After looking at it, I told her what it would cost & after finding out what it was worth, she agreed. I used 60/40 silver-solder that matched color nicely, O/A, & Lucas-Milhaupt flux. Each joint was cleaned with a small die grinder, fluxed, & sil-sol back together. After I was finished, I re-contoured all the joints with the die grinder to original configuration & lightly sanded w/240grit to semi-polish. It came out nicely & the lady was quite pleased. She did find out that the piece was worth over $500 & glad she didn't sell it for scrap. Here's some pics.
