Miller Cutmate 375 Plasma cutter

Well after much thaught I've decided to take the plunge and buy a plasma cutter. I hope I don't regret it. Been wanting one for 9 years now. I've narrowd it down to 2 cutters. A Miller Cutmate 375 or a Hyperthrem 380. I'am more of a Miller coustomer and a blue cutter would look nice to my collection of Miller welders but has anyone got a opinion about either machine? Comparing both models they look alot alike. Meaning the front panel and compartment on the side and gun. Both are 92ocv at 27 amps and 35% duty cycle and weigh the same. And 60 psi. Both cost the same. Sorry for the long question but $1150 is alot of money to me. I'll probally get the cutmate thru cyberweld. Thanks Steve

They are probably very very close to being the same machine considering Hypertherm Corp. makes the plasma torch for both Lincoln and Miller.

I own a Hypertherm Powermax 380. The machine is a quality unit. I bought this unit even though I am a dedicated Miller/Hobart customer. I own a HH 175, MM 210, and an Econotig. I went with the Hypertherm for two reasons. Reason number one is I use the Powermax 350 at work and have been quite pleased with its performance. So you know, the Powermax 380 is the new version of the Powermax 350. My second reason was price. I was able to get the Powermax 380 for $1040 from my local supplier.

Thanks Russell. Main and Dan for your help. Dan, I still have time to purchase the cutter so i"ll still give the Hyperterm some more thaught. You don't see my name on this board much , but I look on here at least once aday and a number of times Sat. and Sun. I've learned a great deal on this site. Thanks to everyone. Steve W

We just bought a Hyperther Powermax 1000 at work. What a great Machine! :D I bought it through BOC gas. My rep there said that it is the only brand of Plasma that he recommends. He said that Hypertherm was the innovator of the technology, and everyone else is following them. I took his word for it, and we love it. It cuts though stainless like a hot knife through butter. Just something for you to think about...
