Hobart weed burner

Hello gentelmen.

I have been meaning to build a weed burner for some time now but as with most of my projects the need for the burnner came befroe the time to build it. So i laid out 45.00 for a hobart weedburner. When I got it home the first thing I did was boke the fitting at the hose where it goes into the tank. So 20.00 later for fittings and a new hose I finally got it fired up. This thing is pathetic, it barely puts out any flame turned all the way up. Am I doing something wrong or is this comon?

Hello JP-Fab. The Hobart HotStick Weedburner/Propane Torch comes with an excess flow safety valve. This is likely the issue here. If you open the main propane tank valve too quickly, you'll activate the excess flow safety valve.

To correct the problem, turn the main tank valve off, release the pressure on the torch line, close the torch valve, wait about 30 seconds, slowly(keyword) open the main tank valve to the full open position, open the torch valve slightly and light the torch (in a clear, safe area). You should then be able to crank it up and it should have a very impressive flame.

I didn't even know Hobart MADE a weedburner... :confused: Guess I haven't been keeping up very well! lol.

had to look it up myself.
then i see the pic, and i recognized the torch immediately-i never noticed in stores that hobart made it
