Does any one have any links to older (1960s to 1980s) oxy fuel torch catalogs for Victor, Smith Equipment, Harris, etc. Or if you have such a catalog would you be willing to scan pages and post here??

Couple of reasons;
- identifying torch tips and torch handles, etc. found on Craigslist, E-bay, at flea markets, pawn shops, etc.
- since oxy fuel seems to be a dying art, to see what our fathers had which we do not (bring crying towel)
- just marvel at neet old stuff

Myself I am trying to find (or buy) a 1960s to 1980s copy of a Smith Equipment catalog. I am trying to make some sense out of the stuff that my Dad left behind when he passed a couple of years ago.

If you go to the Miller forum
Here is the link (http://www.millerwelds.com/resources/communities/mboard/index.php)
There are a number of people on that site that don't seem to be on this one. That are collectors and knowledgeable on old torches and other equipment.
The biggest problem with old torches and other welding equipment it can hurt or kill you quick. And new equipment or relatively lightly used equipment is fairly cheap.
The only ones think that the equipment is worth a lot of money is the people selling it. As it was told to me,well it must be worth big bucks it's old and it's brass! :eek:
But a couple of them over there can help if you have some clear pictures and any and all markings/numbers etc. on them.

Piper,
Hit me up with what you have. I may be off base, but I may be one of the people PT is referring to.....one of those dang "dark siders". Gas welding is far from dead or a dying art, its just not mainstream anymore, so not supported by big dollars the way electric welding is now as far as advertising or education. Also as it isnt mainstream, its typically not taught well, as many of the common instructors themselves arent truly experienced in the art, this just perpetuates the problem for the general public. Gas welding is strong in the general aviation community, on all materials. So again, let me know what you have, and ill see if I have appropriate literature for it.

Does anyone have a catalog for the Smith LW700 series torch and tips? All Smith would tell me is that it's no longer supported. The SW tips fit, but the sizes aren't the same . . . an SW205 has the same drill size as an LW702. I'd like to find an LW701 top, and know the gas usage of the larger tips to make sure I'm not drawing too much acetylene.

TIA,
Jim
