View Full Version : mig welding t-post (homemade gravel rake)

want to make a attachment for my 44" box blade to pull out grass and weeds from my gravel drive way , the box blade rippers have teeth about every 10" . i have 4 or 5 t-posts that i want to make into something like wast on there but closer together . will mig be ok and should it be gas or flux core , if not can someone think of something i can make cheap , tried every weed and home concoction out there to no avail .

I think you'll tear up your driveway,..but MIG can weld those T Posts just fine. Be sure to get good penetration.. you will want to bevel the weld areas with your Flap Disc or grinder to assure that you get it.:)

Roundup didn't work?? I've had very good luck with it (too good...if it gets on the "keepers"):o

I wouldn't be surprised if the t-posts are rerolled rail steel and somewhat high in carbon.

I made a similar attatchment for a back blade on an 8N Ford.
I made the frame from old angle and welded rebar cut offs on for scarifiers(rippers).
The drive it was tested on had gravel and large (2-3") stone in it and it worked fine.
