'just thought I'd stick this up as an example of how vehicles hold up with no salt on the roads. 1951 International, looks like it was worked to death before its retirement at some ranch field. Great patina, but notice the body is still pretty darn nice. just cab corners rusted out.:)

HF you made something useful out of a freakin' WMD, so, I think you will come up with something that will be equally as cool!

Hmm,
I'm thinking a marsh monster/dinosaur/gator kind of thing. Put some eyes towards the back, nostrils on the front and a row of teeth under the front lip and surround it with marsh grass.

WMD---Weapons Of Mass Distruction... The bombs.
I'm liking the bumper car idea for that hood.... a couple of 59 Cadillac tailights or old truck marker lights mounted on the two bumps on each side and some of your usual artistic imagination and it'll be a great looking rebody for a pedal car.

Ahhh...WMD!! I guess I had my head in my "Art " groove....mot my " Death From Above" groove....:D I am already about 50% into Moon Rocket #2, might even finish it this weekend.
I haven't had the right 'moment or Inspiration' yet for the hood, but it'll come. I Sectioned about a 6" strip out of the center (strictly in the computer) to see how that would look....No Cigar...:p

HF, my reference to the WMD was that, ...here you are saving the world , by removing a WMD out of the gene pool, making a useful thing out of it...pure genius! Not to mention just plain heroic...not everyone can cut up a bomb and live to tell about it. :D

We used to have an old Ford pickup that had a dent on the fender about the size a softball would make in a modern car. I tried to bang it out one time with a 3lb hammer. I suspect that the dent was made when the truck was hit by a train. :D They used metal in vehicles back then, and that fender was armor-plated.

...and you could actually weld patch panels into those vehicles! By merit of the thicker sheet meat; ,but also its composition..it was "softer" than the composition used in today's cars...and the compound curves made it less prone to "Oil canning" than today's...all reasons that adhesives are used to not only repair cars today, but to make them as well.:)

I am acquainted with the owner of the Thunderpig, but I haven't seen it yet. :)
The most interesting use I have seen for a hood like that is as an awning or cover over a door on someone's shop. I thought it was clever.

Really? I thought the whole idea of taking an old bumpercar and making it into a pint-sized street rod was a great idea. Even started me looking for one several years ago so I could do the same thing ............ or at least have it, even if I only used it as a planter. The guy did a great job on the Thunderpig, heard someone even made a garage model of it.

Yes, really. The guy I know bought it from the builder. He did not build it.
It is pretty cool. :)
