can someone explain to me the difference between cc and cv: confused:

very simply, the power supply[welding machine] is designed to develop "constant current" for smaw[stick welding] and gtaw[tig welding], or "constant voltage" for gmaw[wire feeder welding].

Chip,
Constant voltage (CV) means that there is little change in a set voltage for a large change in amperage. The voltage remains relatively constant as current changes. In welding power sources, droop (a little voltage change) is generally designed into the power source.
Constant current (CC) means that there is little change in a set current for a large change in voltage. The current remains relatively constant as the voltage changes.
Wire welders are generally CV power sources and stick welders are generally CC power sources.
Hope this helps.

Oops,
The reply was mean't for Skinner, not Chip.
Sorry for the misdirection. New to this board.
