I have a Cutmaster 50 that is not pilot arcing. Cousin had it burned the electrode in it and lost the spares. New tip and electrode but not getting a spark. AC and gas light on after a few seconds dc light and the logic pcb lights come on. Everything in the torch seems to check out fine. Tired of dragging this thing in for repairs. I have the cutmaster 51 service manual but there seem to be a few differences

It was dead before I let him use it. Stuck in over heat mode he put it the shop and had it fixed so he could use it. He replaced the consumables.

What did they do to it when it was repaired?
Do you get air when triggered?
Is the starter cartridge in good condition
Are the O'rings in place correctly
Is the air pressure set correctly
Cheers

They replaced the thermistor. I get air out and the air pressure is correct. The orings are in the right place. Both switches in the torch check out. The starter cartridge is moving. I have current out of the output diode board and to the torch when the trigger is pulled but nothing from the pilot.
It has had a pilot arc problem before, it was dead out the box when new. Was told it was a bad contact on a plug but don't know which one.
Thanks Michael

340,
Are you positive that the start cartridge is good? Also, PM me with your e-mail address, and I will send you the Cutmaster 50 service manual.

The start cartridge moves freely and it feels like I feel the cartridge move in the torch when I pull the trigger but I'm still not sure it is good. It looks clean on the outside. I sent you my email address.
Thanks Michael

I received the manual thanks for sending it to me.
Didn't find the problem yet.
Section
4.08 D
No arc or intermittent arc in torch; Gas flows; AC indicator ON; TEMP indicator OFF; GAS and DC
indicators ON; Spark at gap on CD PC Board; CD
enable indicator on Logic PC Board ON
1. Air pressure is correct
2. Oil/moisture in lines - I hooked to a second compressor and purged. Moisture trap was dry.
3.Torch parts - using the same part number parts that came with it.
4. Leads - I have continuity
5. Torch - Have continuity, switches work
6. Fault connection wire 33. - wire 33 from IGBT is hooked up.
7.Units with Rev AB or later Logic Board: Check for approximately 12 vdc at TP2 to TP1 on the Logic PC Board - I'm getting 10.65vdc
8. Faulty PCR Relay - Installed jumper no change.
Thinking it may be in torch. The start cartridge goes in when ever air pass out the torch. As soon as the air stops you hear the cartridge go back out. Air is coming out of the tip but as soon as you put the tip up against something you can tell it changes from blowing out to sucking in. Is this normal.
Thanks Michael

Did you ever resolve the problem ? My CM50 is down too and would like to know if you were able to fix it ?
