Novice welder here and am getting some conflicting advice about the MM175 mig welder. Is the MM 175 mig welder capable of welding 1/2" steel in one pass ?

WJONES43...............WELL ABSOLUTELY NOT..............THE ONLY WAY TO DO 1/2 INCH IS TO "V" IT OUT AND DO SEVERAL PASSES OVER THE ROOT............AMOUNT OF PASSES DEPENDS ON THE WIDTH OF THE "V".............THIS IS STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSES MOUTH...........SORRY..............:( NO CAN DO...............ROCKSSCOTT@MILLERWELDS.COM

No it is not. The 175 will only do 1/4" Steel in a single pass. For 1/2" you will need to go with the 250 machine.
