Hi. I'm the same guy that had the Hobart Mega Arc 250 that has the 4cyl Ford that was not firing. I got it firing (replaced ignition module) then it would not start. I got it started (bad plugs and timing off). I welded with it for 5 min after I got it running (welded like a dream) and then I tried to strike an arc again and nothing. I took it to a Hobart certified repair shop (Monroe, GA) and he diagnosed it as a shortage in the rotor. He says that it continues to blow the rectifier. He says that it is not worth repairing. He says that parts are not available anymore and I should look for someone who wants a good engine!! I talked to another Hobart shop (Industrial Electric in ATL) who says they might could repair it or rewind the rotor. I have spent $300 on the engine and it runs like a sewing machine!! I refuse to scrap this machine!! Please help!!
Thanks,
Jerome
