I was given these rods but the packages are worn and I cant read what they are for. One rod is Eutectic XYRON 244 the other is Tool Tectic 6WH. I Think the second one is for hardfacing. All I can find on the net is the warning sheet for the first pack of rods (244) that indicates that they have 60% nickel. I'm guessing they are for cast iron repair. I'm a beginer so any help is appreciated. Thanks:)

The Xyron rod is for dense deposits on oil soaked cast iron. suited for joining CI to steel. DC either polarity.
All I have for Tool Tectic is 6hss , used for High speed steel built up edges. Ac-Dc reverse. Found 6hw is for hot working steel.More info available if needed.

Thanks, Like I said I'm just a beginner. I've been practicing mostly with 6013s and 7018s and was wondering what the xyron and tooltecs were for. Someone gave me an old Westinghouse AC welder (weighs a ton) with the front that looks like a switchboard. It's old but man does it put down some nice welds even for a beginner. Thanks again.
