When I go to home depot to buy rods, there are different choices from the same brand but once reading the box, I dont find any written difference. What are the differences?
Also, someone told me a while back that you have to weld axle housings on car with low hydrogen rods but couldnt tell me why. Why?

What do you mean by different choices? Do you mean different sizes or numbers?

What machine do you have? Start with a box of the 7018AC in 3/32. Run them on DC if you have the choice. Get it hot enough and drag it along the joint nice tight and steady, real slow. You should have a little less coffee to do this right.

I think what he means it each company uses there own name for each rod kinda like lincoln calls their 6010's fleetweld 5+ , the 6011 are the fleetweld 35 And the 7018's are called Excalibur . Esab calls there something totally different. Dont let the name fool you, look at the numbers and size and compair them to the miller chart that rick barter posted.
