so the last couple days at work ive been helping the machinist on a big shovel job from the mine... yesterday i was grinding and cutting
(with angle grinder) for about 7 hours straight and all was good i even got a few compliments on my work then today all was good until about lunch time i read a paper about a guy who was at a sawmill using a grinder and the blade caught or got stuck blew apart hit him in the face then the grinder recoiled and also hit him and he WASNT wearing a faceshield... well after that anytime i had a cutting disk on the grinder thats what kept going through my head and a little later one what happens? cutting through a piece and the blade caught the grinder jumped and got my in the forehead part of my faceshield.. didnt get it hard just nicked it... but wow thank god i had the shield on at the time.. i was fairly close to the workpiece and had a good grip on the grinder and since the part of the hemlet that got hit was about 3" or so from my actual forehead it might not have got me but it kinda make me snicker a little and think.. wow!! yesterday i didnt even have the faceshield on for the first two hours or so just safety glasses and earplugs... i guess that wasnt too smart as i got a tiny piece of metal stuck in my lip i even got a hot one in my ear (had earplugs in so didnt go anywhere) it kinda makes me wonder if i never read that paper about the guy in the mill if i would have had it happen to me as i would not have been all paranoid and would have had more focus on my work rather than worrying about what could happen
