Well i used my Miller 225 Thunderbolt for the first time really today... And for some reason it doesnt weld or act anything like any stick welder ive ever used.. With the amps and such not ever turned up that high the electrode is burning up very quick alot with wanting to like ignite, along with the weld looks like trying to weld with mig wire without any argon/co2 going to it... whats the deal here.. Also its a constant current AC arc welder.... What lil bit of info ive given is there anything anyone can figure out maybe wrong or something im not doing right? Im also using 6011 electrodes so, and it was on just plain steel stuff i used to build my cart out of not even thick at all..

I would guess the reason is because you are using 6011 electrode, the flux composition is very different than a 7018. hence the 8 of the electrode, I would say you need to read up on the different rods and they will not all burn the same.

How thick is the rod? 1/8" 6011 should run fine on AC anywhere between 75 and 120 amps.

Well see this welder was used and guarnteed and i talked to the guy who had it inwhich hes certified mig/tig/stick etc done plum fitting etc for years and he said this welder worked its best with 6011's guess im just trying to make it burn too hot...
