This is up Hot Foots Alley,Me thinks . I do soo many different trades It's fun.
Years ago I set hundreds of glass blocks on projects. I scored 17 at $3.00
each. I have glass cups and also do glazing. Tile?, You betcha. Have 2 MK 10" commercial wet saws. Going slowly. I cut the tops off the blocks. Then I use plumbers sand cloth to take off the edge. Nice for colored rocks, plants, flowers.
I have an account with C.R. Lawrence co. and have some diamonr core bitts
coming. I'll drill some for cords. Nice nite lite. Lows sells pittsburg corning for around $8.00 each. The cool ones are in salvage yards from the 50s. Took a coke bottle from Mexico, cut just above the coke logo. sanded, pot in some flowers and water. Gave it to on of My guys for His 5 year old grandaughter.
Diamond blade in a 4" grinder will work.Glasses, gloves, and a trickle of water from a hose bibb will work." Life is good " ,like Harvey Says . Tool :)

Something else to considered for fun with glass block. Use some vinyl bumper stickers or scrap sign material, or even the shelf contact paper, saran wrap etc as a mask. Masking and duct tape also works. On the flat sides cut out a shape or design with a #11exacto knife and then blast in with your media blaster. Be sure to cover any areas that you don't want to frost or etch!
